I don't remember this opening (I was a tad too young to stay up for this!), but I recognize the program theme...they used another version of it for the mid-80s evening movie opening.

I seem to recall that the morning movie opening theme around this time was a variation of the "You're Gonna Fall For Us" promotion music.

By the 1984-85 season, they updated the theme and the opening. The Seven O'Clock Movie & Weekend Theater followed suit during that year until the 1992-93 season, where WGN Presents was no more 3 years later and 10 years later, WGN Weekend Theater also earned its reward.

I wonder . . . was this movie opening done by Dolphin Productions (given that a virtually identical font was used as was also on the opening titles for most of New York sister station WPIX's movie umbrellas [i.e. "The Eight O'Clock Movie," "Sunday Morning Movie," "Sunday's Great Movie"] in the mid-1970's)? Or if not them, then what about Image West in L.A. or CVC in Denver (where another sister station of WPIX and WGN, KWGN, was based)?

I noticed that as WGN started the movie, they skipped over the opening credits and the Warner Brothers logo--a technique WFLD used to do from what I've seen on Fuzzy's old YouTube account. WPIX I don't think ever did that. But you know with today's digital re-mastering of films making them shine (which I like and thanks to TCM for preserving classic Hollywood!), there's always something magical about those dirty prints shown, whether it was on WNEW, WOR or WPIX or even when the network stations aired movies.

I don't think that's Marty Robinson voicing the station ID...it doesn't quite have that "WTTW Channel 11" sound. I imagine the voice-overs were done by whoever was the news announcer on duty at the time.
