Description: In time for the upcoming Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, here's a 1981 segment from NewsCenter5 at 10pm on WMAQ Channel 5, with a Tale of Two (local) Weddings.

Anchor Chuck Henry introduces a report by Carol Marin (produced by Don Mosely) which opened with a shot of the wedding of William's parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, and tying it to the wedding of a Chicago couple, Donald Stell(?) and Mitzi Friedland (in that in both nuptials, the groom was older than the bride, and both took place on the exact same day). The Chicago couple came to the County Building at 8:30am to commence their wedding; they were the first to arrive. Carol contrasted the royal couple's wardrobe with the Chicago couple, and interviews this "working couple." Also features interviews with marriage clerk Joan Healy and Judge Marilyn Rozmarek Komosa, and shots of Cook County Clerk Stanley Kusper's office where the Chicago couple went after their wedding, feasting on a cheesecake presented by restaurateur Eli Schulman. The Chicago couple's "contingent," after the ceremony, went to the Easy Park on Clark and Wacker where it ended. This local wedding was covered not only by local media such as WMAQ, but also national publications like Newsweek.

Chuck Henry, shown with Linda Yu at the anchor desk, then thanks videotape editor Charles Sanders for putting the piece together. Linda then says some words to the new Chicago couple, commenting how they accepted the media attention "with wonderful grace." They then say good night, flanked by weatherman Jim Tilmon and sportscaster Chet Coppock.
