If you ever wondered where Barack Obama got his slogan for the 2008 Presidential campaign from, this may have been it! ;-)

Here's a one-minute commercial for Kellogg's cereals, with the backs of cereal boxes spotlighting numerous American historical figures (Orville and Wilbur Wright, Thomas Edison, Ben Franklin) and including animated flashes of such events as Franklin's discovery of electricity, the Wright Brothers' first flight, the invention of the phonograph record, the building of bridges, jet flights, and the moon landing - the unifying theme behind all these accomplishments being the slogan "Yes We Can!" and tied into the celebration of America's Bicentennial. Boxes for Corn Flakes, Rice Krispies and Product 19 are shown in this advertisement.

Voiceover by Casey Kasem ("Zoinks!")

A brief portion of the ending notes of The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show opening theme are heard prior to this commercial, indicating that this came from the first commercial break of that program as aired on WBBM Channel 2. The opening title card for, and the first seconds of, the Bugs Bunny/Daffy Duck cartoon "A Star Is Bored" (1956) follows after the end of this commercial. This was a special Tuesday evening airing of the show, as opposed to the standard Saturday morning slot.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Tuesday, May 18th 1976 at a little after 7pm.
