Description: Here's another segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop. By this point, if the clapboard is of any indication, the SYT title had been eschewed in favor of Svengoolie.
This segment (#1-1) is from Show #59 (according to the clapboard). However, there is no recording date.
In this segment, Svengoolie introduces the rock band Wilderness Road and shows the cover of their then-new album, Sold for the Prevention of Disease Only (Reprise MS 2125). The band then introduces a "six-year-old" master of the universe, Swami Heybebopareeebob, who explains the meaning of his name as "tennis pro" and says he's out looking for money for his "Mr. Guru Village" chain of restaurants, and mentions a prior restaurant chain in Bombay called "New Deli." He is carrying an instrument that looks like an accordion but which he calls a "collapsible sitar."
Directed by Phil Doty.
This aired on local Chicago TV sometime in early 1973.
