Description: Here's another segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop. By this point, if the clapboard is of any indication, the SYT title had been eschewed in favor of Svengoolie.

This segment (#1-3) is from Show #60 (according to the clapboard). However, there is no recording date.

In this segment, Svengoolie is presiding over "The Golden Goolie Awards," whose theme music is "Hail to the Chief" and whose symbol is a rubber chicken painted in gold. The envelope thrown at Sven says inside, "Help! I'm being held prisoner in an envelope factory," so he has to read this week's award winner from a cue card. The winner was given as "Volunteer Fireman Fairfax W. Earwax of Trenchmouth, California" (a vintage photo of a mustachioed man in uniform), for rescuing a 350-pound woman (with the same stock photo used for the "Golden Goolie Award" of Show #59) from the fifth floor of a burning building in spite of his weighing 160 pounds; the fireman had to make two trips.

Directed by Phil Doty.

This aired on local Chicago TV sometime in early 1973.
