Description: Here's another report on the murder of John Lennon from Night Beat on WGN Channel 9, with Jack Taylor anchoring. Features reports by Independent Network News' Tim Malloy and Frank Casey in New York (they worked at WGN's sister station in that city, WPIX Channel 11, at the time; it was there that the nationally-syndicated INN originated), and a local report from WGN's own Elizabeth Brackett. Also featured in clips within the two reports from the INN feed are James Sullivan, NYPD Chief of Detectives, at a press conference; and interviews with Don Kehr, a neighbor; another neighbor, Ellie Greenwich (very likely one and the same as the legendary Brill Building songwriter), and lawyer Herbert Adlerberg. Sketches of Lennon assassin Mark David Chapman's arraignment hearing by Bob Smith. Brackett's report (with clips of The Beatles at the Amphitheatre in 1964) features interviews with disc jockeys Jim Stagg and Clark Weber, and Lennon fan Jim Madigan.

(You can also watch another Night Beat report on this from the previous night.)

This aired on local Chicago TV early Wednesday, December 10th 1980.
