Description: Here's an interesting discovery! A 16mm film, found by Mr. Chance Mitchell on Ebay and graciously donated to us - it starts out with a vintage WGN Color Station ID (the same one we saw at the beginning of the Bozo's Circus: The Lost Tape special (albeit with different music), which is why I date this, for lack of a better guess, as from 1971)

Then follows the most complete, and richest-color-looking opening for Garfield Goose and Friends that I have ever seen before! It also includes the rare Frazier Thomas credit slide (previously seen in our 1971 black and white Garfield Goose clip) - and an extended fade-out of the music track (Ethel Smith's "Monkey on a String") which in practice would have been transitioned out of into a live studio camera shot of that day's Garfield Goose episode.

Ok, and now we come to the less exciting "meat" of this discovery, what follows is a complete Clutch Cargo serial (all 5 parts) - "Pipeline to Danger". Clutch Cargo was of course, one of the featured cartoons on Garfield Goose. (and fondly remembered by Max Headroom the Video Pirate) However, this leads us to this question..

What the heck is this thing?

Why was it created? Rain delay theater? An attempt to syndicate the program's cartoon elements but under the Garfield Goose and Friends umbrella? An unauthorized souvenir taken home by a WGN employee as entertainment for his kids' birthday party? I don't know - so far this mystery seems harder to figure out than the identity of the Max Headroom pirate. ;-)
