Here's the ending for the Movie 5 presentation on WMAQ Channel 5. (which I believe was the same sequence as the opening) You can see colored footage of old movies and stars such as Charlie Chaplin.
Wasn't this used as the opening for other movie shows in other cities? How old is it? (i.e., when did they first start using it?) Anyone know?

Here is the opening of a late movie feature of "The Ape Man" on WMAQ Channel 5. It starts out with some kind of time-filler - a Channel 5 logo over some rock music which goes on for over a minute, and then the opening to the "Movie 5" begins - I've seen this opening before used in New York so I think it was a national thing.

Here's the (mostly complete) opening for the NBC Saturday Night at the Movies presentation of "KISS Meets the Phantom" (A.K.A., "KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park) on WMAQ Channel 5. They even did a WMAQ on-screen station ID during it. (the recording missed about the first half of the NBC opening though)
If only the rest of the movie was as moderately entertaining as the opening credits.
