Lincoln Carpeting - "Firing Squad" (Commercial, 1983)

Here's a commercial for Lincoln Carpeting featuring the full version of their jingle.

I wonder if the person that came up with this goofy ad got fired? 8-)

"When you're thinkin' Lincoln-Lincoln, better carpeting for less - call NAtional 2-9000. NAtional 2-9000!"

This aired on local Chicago TV in February 1983.

WFLD Channel 32 - Son of Svengoolie - "The 3-D Movie" (Opening, 1982)

Here's the open from Son of Svengoolie episode Number 158 - the famous 3-D Movie - Revenge of the Creature! A great (slightly disappointing) moment in Chicago Broadcasting History! ;-)

I included the first couple minutes of the movie so you could see a little bit of the 3D effect - not so much during the titles, but as the movie starts you can see even without the glasses how the picture looks a little different. Not really sure how this was supposed to work with a black and...

Here's a segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop.

This opening segment from "Show #5" features comedian Mort Sahl as guest coffin opener. (when he signs the coffin you can see other names that were on the show such as Ray Rayner)

"The following prescribe is transcrammed..." - anyone know where this funny bit of technical mumbo-jumbo originated? Anoth...

Rolling Stone...The 10th Anniversary - "A Day In The Decade" (1977)

Here's something that's pretty awful and bizarre, a segment from the Rolling Stone 10th Anniversary special - a Beatles tribute medley called "A Day in the Decade". It goes on for over 14 minutes, and mercifully perhaps the person recording it decided that was enough. (I think it was almost over anyway)

Local Trivia Note: This special was stereo simulcast (simulcasted?) in the Chicago area on WBBM-FM 96.3.

This aired on local Rockford, IL TV on Friday, November ...

WLS Channel 7 - AM Chicago with Ramsey Lewis (Excerpt, 1979?)

Here's a short excerpt from AM Chicago on WLS Channel 7, in which legendary jazz pianist (and a music figure long associated with the Windy City), Ramsey Lewis, performs a soft ballad entitled "After the Rain," written by James Mack, which he would later perform in a 1988 album with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Classic Encounter, issued on CBS Masterworks FM / MK 42661. Also featuring host Robb Weller. Unfortunately the person who recorded this only saved this bit.

WFLD Channel 32 - Illinois Lottery Drawing (1986)

Here's another Illinois Lottery drawing on WFLD Channel 32 for all you lottery fans out there. (or is it just one person?) ;-)

That's Dean Richards doing the voiceover (confirmed!)

There's that background music again. You can also hear it in a 1984 Lincoln Tech commercial and in other WFLD Lottery Drawings that I have posted earlier. It's called "Power Generator" and is part of the Network Production Library of music. You can find it on an album of theirs calle...
