Here's a commercial for foamy Dads Root Beer (or is it Dad's Root Beer?) in the new plastic 2 liter bottle. Starring little Mindy Blank who was about 6 years old at the time.
Her mom found this commercial (which was originally in a break for the WLS 3:30 Movie presentation of "Jason and the Argonauts") through a web search and wrote to me. She was nice enough to share some of the story of how Mindy wound up in the commercial.

Here's an ABC News Special Report on the death of Irish Republican Army (IRA) member Bobby Sands at age 27 after a 66-day hunger strike, reported by Ted Koppel in Washington. He mentioned that Mr. Sands, who was serving a 14-year prison sentence for weapons possession and demanding special status as a political prisoner, died at Belfast's Maze Prison at 1:17am Tuesday (the 5th) Belfast time, which would have been 8:17pm Eastern time (and, therefore, 7:17pm Chicago time). Mr. Koppel e...

WMAL Channel 7 (Washington, D.C.) - Money Movie 7 - "State Fair" (Commercial Break, 1976)
Here's an almost 40-year-old clip (to the day!) that I found randomly at the end of a Umatic videotape. Thought not from Chicago TV, it's still interesting. (of course)
It's a rare clip from WMAL Channel 7 out of Washington, D.C. which became WJLA-TV Channel 7 less than a year later. It's from something called "Money Movie 7" where they were airing the film "State Fair" [1962] starring Pat Boone and Ann-Margret, Sadly, this was the only break that survived. Includes:

Host Ray Rayner starts off by introducing a commercial for Alka-Seltzer, another in their series of ads along the lines of their "Spicy Meatball" and "I Can't Believe I Ate the Whole Thing" campaigns.
