Here is a Prayer For Today and station sign-off from WKBS Channel 48 in Philadelphia, in February 1983. Notable due to WKBS being a sister station of WFLD; they were both owned by Field Communications.

National Anthem played by the Stanford University Band and arranged by Dr. Arthur P. Barnes. Photography by the Sierra Club. (Copyright 1972 or 1973?)

WGN Channel 9 - 10th Inning with Jack Brickhouse - "Interview with Bob Lurie" (1976)

Here's an edition of the post-game 10th Inning show on WGN Channel 9, hosted by Jack Brickhouse, with guest Bob Lurie who had just assumed majority ownership of the San Francisco Giants. This was after a grueling 14-inning session which saw the Cubs beat the Giants at Candlestick Park, 6-5, in the first game of a doubleheader. This was also from the days when remote broadcasts such as the Cubs / Giants match carried this day by WGN went through separate transmissions (one for the vid...

WFLD Channel 32 - The Baxters - "Women's Roles In Marriage"(Part 1, 1980)

Here's Part 1 of the Norman Lear created "interactive" program, The Baxters, as aired on WFLD Channel 32.

It was a pretty unique idea - the first half would be a fairly normal sitcom (whether or not it's any good is another question) that dealt with some issue of the day. The second half would be an in-studio discussion group to talk about the issues raised. Each city had their own locally produced second half (except for those who chose to use the "national" version) ...

WFLD Channel 32 - Soul Searching & Chicago '80 (Excerpts, 1980)

Here is something from the extremely fuzzy memory department - a very staticy clip of the ending of Soul Searching (public affairs program for African-Americans I can only assume) followed by a Field Communications ID, a WFLD All in the Family promo and then the opening and first couple minutes of Chicago '80 - hosted by Norman Mark - with that weeks topic - "Atheism - Is there a God?".

Featuring Ouida Lindsey as host of Soul Searching (Fashions by Holiday ...

WGN Channel 9 - Chicago Cubs Baseball - "Mayor Jane Byrne Throws Out The First Pitch" (1981)

Here's a clip featuring Mayor Jane Byrne throwing out the first pitch at a Cubs game, followed by the singing of the National Anthem (mostly complete) by Jimmy Damon (the inspiration for Bill Murray's lounge singer character on Saturday Night Live), then the starting lineups and opening moments of the game.

Cardinal Cody can be seen sitting next to Mayor Byrne. He would pass away less than a year later on April 25th 1982. On the Mayor's left is her husband, Jay McMulle...
