Way to Go! Special (Part 5, 1980)

Here is Part 5 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sure thi...

Here's a segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop.

This Break #2 from an unknown episode number features an impersonator of famous comedian Phyllis Diller.

I'm thinking that "SYT #1" as the clapboard person says, refers to the fact that it's Movie #1. (2 movies a night were shown for most of the run of SYT)

According to the TV listings, ...

Here's another rare example of WFLD Channel 32's Keyfax Nite-Owl Service, notably the first six minutes thereof on this particular day.

Nite-Owl was WFLD's equivalent to two primitive (by today's standards), digital-based overnight "tele-text" services prevalent on British television, BBC's long-running Ceefax and ITV's (Independent Television, the commercial TV outlet) Oracle. Ceefax lasted up to the end of analogue television in England in ...

Here is the sixth in a series of ten, minute-long shorts (or interstitials as they are sometimes known) created by Field Communications for children called Hooray for Reading. These would air during the commercial breaks on kid's shows and cartoons.

These featured kids briefly doing some other activity besides reading (the "hook") and then describing a book they like using a brief dramatization of a part in the story.

This one is based on the book "The TV Kid" by...
