Here is Part 2b of a long-forgotten Field Communications produced program for kids called Way to Go. This episode (which may infact be the first one) is from 1980. Peter Kastner is the host.
I am pretty sure this was produced at the Field station KBHK-TV Channel 44 in San Francisco.
This program aired on WFLD Channel 32 in Chicago on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in July of 1981 (Thanks, smctopia!) and may have aired at other times too.
Not sure if th...

WCIU Channel 26 - The Warren Freiberg Show (Part 1, 1981)

Here's Part 1 of an episode of The Warren Freiberg Show on WCIU Channel 26. In case you weren't familiar with him, Warren Freiberg had some rather "extreme" and "fringe" opinions. He had a radio show, and you may also remember him turning up in little vignettes on Steve Dahl's "It's Too Early" show from 1983.
This part begins with a partial WCIU-TV Station ID (voiceover by Bill O'Connor) followed by the opening credits (anyone know who does the voiceover?)
Then...
WBBM Channel 2 - "Thunderstorms Forever" (1979)

Here is the opening to a rebroadcast of the made-for-tv movie "Forever" starring Stephanie Zimbalist of Remington Steele fame. This is interesting for a number of reasons, but mainly because it features a WBBM Channel 2 weather-crawl warning of thunderstorms for some Wisconsin counties. (How nice of a Chicago station to let them know!)
Hard to believe Stephanie Zimbalist was 21-22 when this movie was filmed.
"From Channel 2 News...The National Weather Service h...

Here's the ending to Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood on WTTW Channel 11. This was Episode 1315 which was originally aired in 1973. (first voiceover during the end credits by Marty Robinson)
I love the ending slide with the trolley and episode number - the music that plays during it just takes me back. I probably hadn't heard it in at least 25 years. :-)
Also includes at the end:
WTTW Promo - Luciano Pavarotti: King of the High C's (ending voice...

Everyone remembers the great Blizzard of '79 - but how many people remember the Blizzard of 1978? Before the big snow in 1979 hit, this seemed fairly significant I guess, although not as bad as the Big Snow of 1967. Was this just a case of snow-perbole? You decide.
Here is Part 3, the final part, of some footage from the NewsCenter5 airing at 5pm on WMAQ Channel 5, with Mike Jackson, Ron Hunter, and Jerry Taft. Also features a very brief glimpse of one of WMAQ-TV's sports guys...
