American Automobile Insurance Brokers - "Old Time Movies" (Commercial, 1979)

Here's a spot for American Automobile Insurance Brokers, with clips of old silent films of cars driving recklessly accompanied by "old-timey" music, and contrasting such scenes with the reality of millions of auto accidents a year. This ad advises that those without insurance shouldn't drive, and those seeking insurance should call CE6-5366. (CEntral-6 5366) (or in modern parlance, 236-5366)

Snipets - "New Kid In The Neighborhood" (1980)

Here is another rare Snipets segment! These would air on Field Communications stations such as WFLD Channel 32 in the 70's and 80's.

This one is a bit fuzzy, but it's the best we have so far. This one also features the older "patchwork" logo of Snipets as well as a different group of kids saying "Snipets!". There is also a voiceover at the end which sounds like George Takei - "Snipets are produced by Field Communications". This voiceover was dropped when the "worms" versio...

WMAQ Channel 5 - Pump Room...First-Nighters (Promo, 1976)

Here's a promo for an upcoming special about the legendary Pump Room, hosted by Irv Kupcinet. The special aired on WMAQ Channel 5 on Monday, July 5th 1976 at 10:30pm.

The promo is presented by an announcer with an old-fashioned microphone from around the 1930's, regaling the various celebrities who were part of the 1938 grand opening (including Joan Crawford), right up to the present time. Featuring a jazzy arrangement at the beginning and end of the NBC Chimes. It is prec...

WFLD Channel 32 - Super Cartoon Sunrise - Popeye Hour (Bumper, 1979?)

Here's a short bumper for the Popeye Hour on WFLD Channel 32 Super Cartoon Sunrise. Includes a short music sting of the show's theme song, a jazzy, funky, disco-fied, Hammond B3 organ-heavy instrumental arrangement (with a bank of trumpets at the end) of "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here". (anyone know where it came from or who played on it?)

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could find out who the studio musicians were that recorded the music for these bumpers? Anyone out there kn...
