The Reluctant Robot (Part 3, 1980)

Here is Part 3 from another all but forgotten Field Communications special production - The Reluctant Robot. It was produced to get kids interested in Astronomical Science; pulsars, planets, space travel, etc. You can definitely see the influence from Star Wars a couple years earlier. The budget must not have been too great because the whole thing comes off as feeling like an episode of Dr. Who. (not that there's anything *wrong* with that) ;-)

Here's Part 1 of an edition of Newstalk with Wanda Wells on WFLD Channel 32. This was one of the programs that survived the transition of station ownership from Field to Metromedia - although the opening titles and bumpers used the old Field-era logo while promos used the newer logos placed in effect after Metromedia assumed ownership.

Here's a bumper promo for All in the Family on WFLD Channel 32.

It's hard to hear over the voiceover but listen to the music at the end - it's a version of the Field Communications theme done in a style of the All in the Family theme.

Voiceover by Ron Beattie.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, February 27th 1980.

Finally, in color! Here's the opening for the Stooges / Rascals Hour on WFLD Channel 32, from an original master tape (which looks like it was transferred from 16mm film) - and therefore with no voiceover. (Previous to this we only had an off-air black-and-white recording of the opening, from 1979)

At the beginning, we briefly see the production slate showing that this was number 8856 and was crea...
