WTTW Channel 11 - Sneak Previews - "Blade Runner" (Review & Ending, 1982)

Here is another clip from WTTW Channel 11 Sneak Previews with a review of Blade Runner, Pranks (A.K.A. Death Dorm), the Pheobe Cates - Willie Ames movie "Paradise", and the ending credits to the show.

I can't believe they didn't have thumbs up or down back then. When the heck did they start that? I thought it was with them from very early on!

It's a shame neither Siskel or Ebert seemed to "get" Blade Runner, which is considered a classic by most people nowada...

Bert Weinman Ford with Linn Burton (Commercial, 1980)

(reposted separately to make it easier to find)

Here's another classic commercial for Bert Weinman Ford with Linn Burton.

Bert Weinman - Your TV Ford Man - at 3535 N. Ashland Avenue. (Although if Bert Weinman is supposedly my *TV* Ford Man, how come we never see any commercials with him in them? We always see Linn Burton. Was Linn Burton a salesman that worked at Bert Weinman's? I wonder how many people mistook Linn Burton for Bert Weinman?)

WFLD Channel 32 - PM Magazine Promo and Illinois Lottery Drawing (01-25-86)

Here is an (incomplete) PM Magazine Promo & Illinois Lottery Drawing from January 25th, 1986. This was shown during WFLD Channel 32's Son of Svengoolie presenting the movie "Supersonic Man". This was his last show, #334. :-(

The announcer during the lottery drawing is none other than WGN's own Dean Richards.

There's that background music during the lottery drawing. You can also hear it in a 1984 Lincoln Tech commercial and a 1984 WFLD Lottery Drawing that I poste...

WFAA Channel 8 [Dallas-Fort Worth, TX] - "Emergency Broadcast System Test" (1978)

Here's a test of the Emergency Broadcast System from ABC affiliate WFAA Channel 8 in Dallas, TX. This test goes off without a hitch, as the requisite dual tones of 853 and 960 Hz are heard for 23 seconds.

Voiceover by ?? (with the EBS script displayed on screen via different slides, set in Helvetica Medium; albeit differing in some areas from how the voiceover read the script).

"This station serves the Dallas operational area." (What, no reference to For...

Here's the opening of "Bugs Bunny's Looney Christmas Tales" on WBBM Channel 2. Includes:

Don Craig WBBM News bumper promo

CBS pre-emption of Private Benjamin notice (voiceover by Lee Jordan)

"We'll be right back" bumper (voiceover by Danny Dark)

Note: I had to edit this together from two different off-air recordings of this broadcast since the tape cut...

WBBM Channel 2 - "Thunderstorms Forever" (1979)

Here is the opening to a rebroadcast of the made-for-tv movie "Forever" starring Stephanie Zimbalist of Remington Steele fame. This is interesting for a number of reasons, but mainly because it features a WBBM Channel 2 weather-crawl warning of thunderstorms for some Wisconsin counties. (How nice of a Chicago station to let them know!)

Hard to believe Stephanie Zimbalist was 21-22 when this movie was filmed.

"From Channel 2 News...The National Weather Service h...

WSNS Channel 44 - All Night Movies - "Magical Mystery Tour" (Ending, 1980)

Here's a (mostly complete) ending to the Saturday All Night Movies presentation of "Magical Mystery Tour" on WSNS TV-44.

I had two different versions of this recorded by two different people - one was in better quality but the recording stopped a little bit before the other, so I edited the two together here as seamlessly as I could. (a bit noticable due to the differences in quality)

Music used is "

WMAQ Channel 5 - NewsCenter5 At 6pm - "Piersall Incident" (1980)

Here's the sports segment from NewsCenter 5 at 6pm on WMAQ Channel 5 featuring Mike Leiderman reporting. The top story of the day was Jimmy Piersall, White Sox broadcaster, going a bit nuts and attacking a sportswriter (Bob Gallas of the Arlington Heights Daily Herald) before getting into a fight with Mike Veeck. Includes a Jim Ruddle introduction at the beginning and Harry Caray giving his take on the incident. Also:

Ross Baumgarten (any relation to Robin?) talks with Mike ...

WTTW Channel 11 - Doctor Who - "The Hand Of Fear : Part 4" (Ending, 1980)

Doctor Who on a Thursday at 10pm? Here's something cool for you Who fans - one of the earliest yet discovered Doctor Who excerpts from WTTW Channel 11. I give you the ending for Part 4 of "The Hand of Fear".

This was back when they aired the episodes as they did in England; in half-hour installments, before Marty Robinson got the brilliant idea of editing all the parts in a story together and putting it on Sunday evenings.

Also notice the addition of the "Int...
