Not from Chicago, but definitely Chicago related (as we'll get to in a moment) - here's a rarity, transferred directly from a 2" quad videotape, an edition of the 11th Hour News on WPRO Channel 12 in Providence, Rhode Island (which, since 1967, has been known as WPRI-TV; except for the period 1977-1995 when they were affiliated with ABC, the station has otherwise been, and is today, a CBS affiliate).

The anchor is someone you likely know well - Bob Wallace, years before ...

Here's Part 4 (the last part) of the final episode of Al Lerner Sports on WSNS Channel 44. Lerner was the station's first sportscaster, and would go on to a long career with such stations as WLS Channel 7, WMAQ Channel 5, WGN Radio 720 and WSCR-AM, as well as being a wrestling announcer. Also featuring a young (and at this point, moustacheless) Tim Weigel, then a sportswriter for the now-defunct Chicago Daily News, who himself would become a familiar face on Chicago television, worki...

Way to Go! Special (Part 1, 1980)

Here is Part 1 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sur...
