Here's another neat commercial for Starbeat! (previous to this we saw only one other Starbeat commercial, from 1983) This one features a different ending slide that also shows a picture of Steve Cronen.

Here's Part 3, the final part, of an episode of Sorting It Out on WMAQ Channel 5. Sorting It Out was a locally produced news magazine type show that featured interesting people and events around Chicagoland. It starred Bob Smith and a pre-Cheers Shelley Long, who at this point was still mostly known for her work in Homemakers furniture commercials.

This part includes a look at an exhibit at...

Channel 6 (Nashville) - "A Primitive Weather Channel Christmas" (Excerpt, 1975)

Not from Chicago, but still of historical interest: a weird oddity - an excerpt from cable Channel 6 in Nashville, Tennessee (broadcasting in black and white), with what amounts to a primitive version of The Weather Channel, with readings of Wind Direction, Wind Velocity, Barometric Pressure, Temperature, Time, and Current Speed in MPH (just kidding). Plus, it includes a (literal) community bulletin board (including, at one point, a notice for town carolers). All this with a hypnotic, end...

WFLD Channel 32 - Chicago Stuff (Part 2, 1985)

Here's a lost Koz Klassic! - Chicago Stuff - was it a failed pilot? A consolation prize from Fox Television for cancelling Son of Svengoolie a month later? A half-remembered dream? It only aired once, at 10pm on a Sunday in December 1985 - so you couldn't be blamed for not knowing it existed. (I only heard rumors) In any case, it's a neat little package of Rich's schtick, so just think of it as an extremely early episode of The Koz Zone. :-)

WCIU Channel 26 - The Ginny Tiu Show (Part 4, 1969)

Here's Part 4, the last part, of The Ginny Tiu Show which aired on WCIU Channel 26. Ms. Tiu was a child prodigy pianist whose chief claim to fame was playing by ear and not being able to read a note, and who was a familiar presence on such 1960's TV series as The Ed Sullivan Show, Perry Como's Kraft Music Hall, and a 1966 episode of I've Got a Secret (from Steve Allen's run as host), as well as appearing in the 1962 Elvis Presley film Girls! Girls! Girls! ...

WSNS Channel 44 - The Money Movie - "China Gate" (Opening, 1979)

Here's some rare footage from another long-lost local movie show - "The Money Movie" on WSNS TV-44! TMM was similar in concept to Dialing for Dollars. Viewers (mostly lonely housewives and old people from what it sounds like) would send in post cards with their name and phone number, and the host would call them live on the air during the movie breaks to see if they could answer some trivia questions. They answered an easy preliminary question for $10, and then had a chance to answer a har...
