WMAQ Channel 5 - Movie 5 - "The Ape Man" (Opening & PSA's, 1988)
Here is the opening of a late movie feature of "The Ape Man" on WMAQ Channel 5. It starts out with some kind of time-filler - a Channel 5 logo over some rock music which goes on for over a minute, and then the opening to the "Movie 5" begins - I've seen this opening before used in New York so I think it was a national thing.
Then, strangely, between the Movie 5 opening and the start of the film, they show the following PSA's:
U.S. Postal Service featuring Ann Ro...

Son of Svengoolie - "The Sven-eymooners" - "A Visit To The Sewer" (1980?)
Here's a classic segment from Son of Sven - The Sven-eymooners sketch "A Visit To The Sewer". (parody of The Honeymooners)
Not sure what episode this was originally from but based on Sven mentioning the movie "Yongary, Monster from the Deep", I'm going to go out on a limb and assume that this was the movie being shown that week, which first aired on episode number 65.
This likely aired on local Chicago TV on Saturday, October 4th 1980.

Here is some neat raw footage - Take #1 of the opening for Monster Rally Movie This take was not used and differs slightly from the final version chosen (along with missing the post production color effects and titles)
Views: 1125 Here's something pretty rare - some footage from WFLD Channel 32's Movie for a Saturday Afternoon featuring the Kaiser-era 32 logo, so this must have dated to at least early 1977 (Previous to this we only had a tiny excerpt of this bumper). Most of it was taped over unfortunately, but this is what remains. This last segment, with complete commercial break and ending sequence, includes:

Voiceover preview by Don Ferris for next week's Saturday Night Movie "Blood & Defiance" which aired on Saturday, July 26th 1980 at 11:00pm. We get to hear the ending of the theme song - perhaps this is more evidence that this is not a standard "song" but a short piece specifically recorded...
