Here's a segment from a program called The Oscar Canales show on WCIU Channel 26 featuring a singer named Harriet Blake.

"On Monday Nights at 9pm WCIU had a series of rotating producers who would produce a monthly special. Oscar Canales was one of those host producers. Oscar was a singer who would always open the show with a song, sometimes singing with his guest. On this particular night his guest was Harriet Blake, another singer. She put on quite a performance and I h...

Here's one of those Pampers diapers commercials from the 70's where they sit the kid's wet butt down on some paper. Yechhh... ;-)

This one features Sara Jane Whitman (Sara Ramos) as the baby. As she wrote to us in May of 2009:

"Here's my story: I have two older brothers, identical twins, and my mom had an agent trying to help get them into commercials. For whatever reason they weren't selected for any commercials (though I think one was in a TIDE commerc...

Way to Go! Special (Part 6, 1980)

Here is Part 6 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sure this...

Here's an editorial by Dillon Smith, Editorial Director of WMAQ Channel 5, on the Chicago firefighters' strike which, at the time of this editorial, was in its sixth day.

Dillon applauds Mayor Jane Byrne's tough stand against the strikers, yet laces into her for using language such as "goon squads" - but to be sure, he does not in any way support the strike which he emphasizes is illegal and "irresponsible." He cannot comprehend the Chicago Federation of Labor's support for th...

Here's Part 3 of an episode of AM Chicago on WLS Channel 7 featuring famed sports reporter and anchor Tim Weigel as host (were they going through a different host each week at this point?). This was at the point when the show had been reduced to only a half-hour in length. The guest on this episode was legendary Chicago newspaper columnist and author, Mike Royko, who was 49 years old at the time. Includes:

The Wonderful World Of Magic - "Bill Bixby's Trick Solution" (1977?)

Here's one more clip from the elusive The Wonderful World Of Magic show - the last one I have. This one includes the end of a magic act, the title card that they would show between acts, and one of the Bill Bixby segments where he shows the solution to a trick he posed at the beginning of the show. Also includes a partial end credits before the recording ended. Notice all the French stuff - the Eiffel Tower on the title card, the Arc De Triomphe in the end credits - was the whole ep...

Here's a great sketch from Episode 14 of The Koz Zone - "Uncle Beelzebub at The NBC Tower Party". Besides the comedy, features a lot of neat bits including:

An old bumper for "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" featuring an a cappella riff on the theme song by Harry Nilsson not usually heard.

A clip from an old WFLD Sales Promotional Film from 1970 showing what equipment they have at the sta...
