Here's an NBC News Special Report on the death of former Vice President and New York Governor Nelson A. Rockefeller as aired on WMAQ Channel 5. I left some of the song in at the end for fun. Includes:

WMAQ Channel 5 - NewsCenter5 At 5pm - "The Blizzard of '78" (Part 3, 1978)

Everyone remembers the great Blizzard of '79 - but how many people remember the Blizzard of 1978? Before the big snow in 1979 hit, this seemed fairly significant I guess, although not as bad as the Big Snow of 1967. Was this just a case of snow-perbole? You decide.
Here is Part 3, the final part, of some footage from the NewsCenter5 airing at 5pm on WMAQ Channel 5, with Mike Jackson, Ron Hunter, and Jerry Taft. Also features a very brief glimpse of one of WMAQ-TV's sports guys...
WSNS Channel 44 - The 1 O'Clock Movie - "Gulliver's Travels" (Opening, 1979)

Now for some more neat old TV-44 footage!
Here is the opening to The 1 O'Clock Movie presentation of the animated "Gulliver's Travels" on WSNS. It probably starts about 7 seconds late, but it's mostly complete. We can see some scenes of famous stars and movies interspersed with the graphics - ones I can make out are Cary Grant in some movie and Gene Wilder and Zero Mostel from the film The Producers. And is that a scene from Metropolis?
Unfortunately (w...

Here's another segment from Screaming Yellow Theater - the original Svengoolie, which aired on WFLD Channel 32 from 1970-1973. Svengoolie was played by Jerry G. Bishop. By this point, if the clapboard is of any indication, the SYT title had been eschewed in favor of Svengoolie.
This segment (#1-2), with the early '70's rock band Wilderness Road as guests, is from Show #59 (according to the clapboard). However, there is no recording date.
