WSNS Channel 44 - The Dating Game - "Joey D'Auria" (Part 1, 1980)
What are the odds? Recorded at random and saved without meaning to, here is an episode of The Dating Game on WSNS Channel 44. Cool enough because it has the original commercial breaks intact - however as I was scanning through it I slowly recognized the face - Chicago's Bozo the Clown the Second, Mr. Joey D'Auria was one of the bachelors!
In Part 1, we hear the intro to the show given by host Jim Lange - it's cut off slightly, however from what he says later in the sho...

HERE'S ANOTHER LONG LOST SNIPETS SEGMENT! Features a young Black/Asian (?) lad, contemplating his physical features, while we hear his internal monologue.
This one actually came from 16mm film and interestingly, includes the opening and closing Snipets bumpers - the Kaiser Broadcasting variation no less.
This is one of the "Pride Has Many Faces" series of Snipets of which t...
WFLD Channel 32 - Creature Feature - "The Black Cat" (Bumper Excerpt, 1979)

Blink, and you'll miss it! (especially this time)
Here is an extreme rarity - a painfully small microblip from a commercial break bumper of WFLD Channel 32's Creature Feature program. This was the program that was replaced by Son of Svengoolie in Summer of 1979. That would date this clip to at least before that time.
If you pause the video at about 10 seconds in you can see a fairly clear frame of the commercial bumper. In this one you can again make out a sm...

Here's an reply to an editorial on HEW (Department of Health, Education and Welfare - predecessor to Health and Human Services, HHS)-mandated school integration policies, as aired on WLS Channel 7. Featuring Doris "Pixie" Galik, Treasurer of the Chicago Lawn Civic Association.
She maintains that Chicago has done everything it can to integrate its schools (to the point where, according to her, public schools have more black than white students), and rails against government-dic...
WBBM Channel 2 - TV 2 News at 10pm - "Chroma Key Afro" (1973)
Here's a brief excerpt from what was then called the TV 2 News at 10pm on WBBM Channel 2 featuring a humorous technical cock-up. In this clip, anchor Bob Wallace is reporting on a burglary at the Ambassador East Hotel the prior night in which the culprits stole around $38,000 in jewelry and cash (among the victims were "insult" comic Don Rickles and his wife who lost $5,000 in jewelry, and Hollywood agent Paul Kohner and his wife who lost more than $8,000 in jewelry and $5,000 in cash...
WFLD Channel 32 - "Festival Of Television" (Promo, 1978)

Here's a promo for the "Festival of Television" and their first night of special programming on WFLD Channel 32. Here are Chris Tuft's recollections:
"It was a weeknight hour of 1950s sitcoms. Monday (June 19th 1978) was (as noted in the promo) "The Jack Benny Show" (at 10:30pm) and "My Hero" (at 11pm). Tuesday was "Topper" and "The Gale Storm Show", Wednesday was "Love That Bob" and "How to Marry a Millionaire". Thursday was "Bachelor Father" and "People's Choice." Fr...
WGN Channel 9 - Family Theatre - "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" (Opening, 1972)

The transfer of this video clip made possible by your generous donations!
Here's something incredibly rare (tape-tracking problems notwithstanding) - another local movie show opening yanked from the dustbin of TV history! Tracking is kind of rough, but here is the opening of the Family Theatre presentation of "Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol" on WGN Channel 9. We see a dancing man with a hat and cane, who eventually gets yanked by the hook, as in the vaudeville days...

Here is the closing from one of the best and most remembered Chicago children's shows (although it was eventually syndicated to other markets) - Gigglesnort Hotel.
Even though it was seen for many years after it was produced, the show was only in production for 3 years - 1975, 1976, and 1977. In Chicago, it aired on Sunday mornings on WLS Channel 7.
Show Credits:
Written and Produced by Bill Jackson
Directed by Carl Tubbs

Here's a partial commercial break for the Super Cartoon Sunrise Popeye Hour on WFLD Channel 32. Includes:
Ending of the Popeye short "The Mighty Navy"
WFLD Super Cartoon Sunrise - Popeye Hour bumper with theme song snippet (a jazzy, funky, disco-fied, Hammond B3 organ-heavy instrumental arrangement (with a bank of trumpets at the end) of "Hail, Hail, the Gang's All Here". (anyone know where it came from or who played on it?)
