The child in this commercial was Jason Kane, who grew up to be a Pediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Physician at Children's Memorial Hospital. (Just goes to show you where doing an Empire commercial can take you.)

Here is the opening for the WFLD Channel 32 Late Late Double Feature. On this night the movies were Charlie Chaplin in "The Funniest Man in the World" followed by Errol Flynn in "Mara Maru".

The animation seems very reminiscent of PM Magazine's opening.
