Here's Part 1 of an (incomplete) episode of the prototypical "reality show" Real People on WMAQ Channel 5. The show was hosted by Byron Allen, Sarah Purcell, John Barbour, and Skip Stephenson (and featured, on and off over the years, contributions from the likes of Bill Rafferty, Mark Russell and Fred Willard - none of whom are on this edition), and ran from 1979 to 1984 at a time when NBC's ratings (and reputation) were in the toilet.

This is pretty cool - an old movie opening that they may have used a version of on WFLD - one of WKBD's sister stations.

Here is the opening 8 minutes of Game 1 of the 1983 American League Championship Series, which was played between the Chicago White Sox and the Baltimore Orioles.

You get to see the cool Channel 32 graphics for their Sox coverage at the time, as well as the starting lineups and opening banter by announcers Don Drysdale and Ken Harrelson.

(By the way, the Sox won this game 2-1, but lost the series 3-1) :-(

Here's another super-rare glimpse at the Thing Theatre movie program on WSNS Channel 44 - a partial bumper, during an airing of "Wrestling Women Vs. The Aztec Mummy" - an example of one of the low budget Mexican horror films produced during the late-50s and 60s.

We can see the same logo font style as featured in the opening of the show, with a color scheme more reminiscent of WSNS'

Here's a neat demo reel with a lot of vintage clips from Dolphin Productions, a legendary New York-based production company of the 1970's and early '80's that was one of three such firms in the country to use an early, analogue-based video animation system called "Scanimate."
