Here is Part 2b of a long-forgotten Field Communications produced program for kids called Way to Go. This episode (which may infact be the first one) is from 1980. Peter Kastner is the host.
I am pretty sure this was produced at the Field station KBHK-TV Channel 44 in San Francisco.
This program aired on WFLD Channel 32 in Chicago on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in July of 1981 (Thanks, smctopia!) and may have aired at other times too.
Not sure if th...

Here's Part 2 of Fahey Flynn Presents: Seven's Greetings, a Christmas Eve special hosted by the legendary news anchor on WLS Channel 7. This was transferred from the original 2" quad master tape (long since trashed) onto 3/4" Umatic, from which this transfer was made. The show was recorded on Tuesday, December 19th 1972.
Featured in this part are Suzy Streetnoise and the puppets Meisterburger and Mike Raphone and from Interesting News for Kids, Feminine Franc...
The Lost Snipets - "Homework Now!" (A FuzzyMemories Re-Creation)

I had some additional Snipets segments but they were transferred from 16mm film and did not have the opening and closing on them. So, I did a little editing job and added them in. This was an early one, circa 1975. I found something cool to add to this - the circa 1975 title for Snipets, during the Kaiser Broadcasting era! Notice it is a little different from the Field era one that took over in 1977. Enjoy.
This one features an Art-Clokey-esque stop-film animation o...

Here is Part 4, the final part, of some footage from the WCIU Channel 26 program The Stock Market Observer.
SMO started after March of 1967 and before Monday, August 21, 1967 in black and white. It switched to color in 1974. Until 1995, it aired for 7 hours each weekday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. By late 1995 to 1999, it aired on WCIU Channel 26 from 8:30 AM to 12 Noon, simulcast on low power WFBT Channel 23, which continued until 3:30 PM. In 2000, SMO aired on WFBT Channel 23 fr...

Here's Part 4 (the final part) of a local music show, Made in Chicago, on WTTW Channel 11. This program (which was also simulcast on WBBM-FM 96.3) was a predecessor to Soundstage which was also produced by the station and aired nationally over PBS. The guests on this (re-run airing) edition were Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah (bassist Mitch Aliotta, guitarist Skip Haynes and pianist John Jeremiah) and Bill Quateman.
Note: As with other things we've found, this is ...
WLS Channel 7 - Eyewitness News Extra - "Goodbye, M*A*S*H" (1983)

Here's a touching Eyewitness News Extra piece on the filming of the final M*A*S*H episode (ironically it was the one that aired the week before the 3 hour finale) - Joel Daly reporting.
By the way, the M*A*S*H finale is still the single highest-rated program in television history. 106 million people in the USA watched the finale that Monday night, with 50.15 million households or 60.2% giving it a Nielsen share of 77%. (This will likely never be topped due to the incre...

Here's a vintage episode of a 15-minute series, Greatest Fights of the Century, hosted by Jim Stevenson, which ran on the NBC Network from 1948 to 1954 (after Gillette Cavalcade of Sports) and, in Chicago, aired Friday nights on WNBQ Channel 5 at 9:45pm. This was from an original 16mm print, with the Academy leader leading it off. Includes:
Opening, with sponsor billboard for Vaseline Hair Tonic and Vaseline Cream Hair Tonic (voiceover by Phil Tonken, one of the...
The Reluctant Robot (Part 1, 1980)

Here is Part 1 from another all but forgotten Field Communications special production - The Reluctant Robot. It was produced to get kids interested in Astronomical Science; pulsars, planets, space travel, etc. You can definitely see the influence from Star Wars a couple years earlier. The budget must not have been too great because the whole thing comes off as feeling like an episode of Dr. Who. (not that there's anything *wrong* with that) ;-)
Once again, I am pretty sure...
Way to Go! Special (Part 2, 1980)

Here is Part 2 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sure thi...
