WSNS Channel 44 - Star Spangled Movie - "You're Telling Me!" (Bumper #5, 197?)

Here is something extremely rare - some bumpers and on-screen station ID's during the "Star Spangled Movie" presentation of the W.C. Fields film "You're Telling Me!" on WSNS Channel 44.

It's too bad this person didn't go to the kitchen to make a sandwich - it would have been nice to have a complete bumper or commercial break.

Notice this bumper is different! The ol' 44 Film Cans with the title of the film and W.C. Fields name - look at the font.

Way to Go! Special (Part 7, 1980)

Here is Part 7 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sure this...

The Reluctant Robot (Part 8, 1980)

Here is the 8th and final part from another all but forgotten Field Communications special production - The Reluctant Robot. It was produced to get kids interested in Astronomical Science; pulsars, planets, space travel, etc. You can definitely see the influence from Star Wars a couple years earlier. The budget must not have been too great because the whole thing comes off as feeling like an episode of Dr. Who. (not that there's anything *wrong* with that) ;-)

WFLD Channel 32 - The Most Important Person - "Why Not Try?" (1980)

Here's an example of the kids' interstitial cartoon, "The Most Important Person" airing on WFLD Channel 32. This one - "Why Not Try?", occured as a special time-filling "bonus" at the end of an episode of Lost in Space. Notice that there are no superimposed titles in the opening credits stating the episode name as there are in other existing film copies that came from school library collections. (Color is also a lot ...

WTTW Channel 11 - "Send Us Some Pizza" (1973)

Here's a short piece that was likely originally planned to air with a pledge drive on WTTW Channel 11, with longtime staff announcer Marty Robinson showing a sausage pizza and explaining how each piece represents a different aspect of the station's operating budget, and at the end giving the address where viewers can send money.

This piece, preserved on 16mm film, was preceded by the SMPTE universal leader countdown, and a 480 Hz "blip" on the "2." There is also a brief shot o...
