Here is Part 2 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sure thi...

WTTW Channel 11 - Wild Chicago - "Stephen Colbert Cameo" (1990)

Here's a neat clip from an episode of Wild Chicago - one of their "Dumb Question" segments where they go somewhere and ask random people a question of questionable intelligence. This one took place in Lincoln Park near Diversey.

As I watched this episode and saw this segment I kept going back to this part - that guy in the sunglasses looks familiar...finally it hit me - it's Stephen Colbert!! (of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report fame) You can also see one o...

WSNS Channel 44 - The Money Movie - "China Gate" (Opening, 1979)

Here's some rare footage from another long-lost local movie show - "The Money Movie" on WSNS TV-44! TMM was similar in concept to Dialing for Dollars. Viewers (mostly lonely housewives and old people from what it sounds like) would send in post cards with their name and phone number, and the host would call them live on the air during the movie breaks to see if they could answer some trivia questions. They answered an easy preliminary question for $10, and then had a chance to answer a har...
