Here's Part 2 of an edition of Newscope on WFLD Channel 32, anchored by Patrick Muldowney.

NOTE: This is the earliest footage currently known to exist of a WFLD broadcast (albeit via kinescope); the sound heard in the background on the right channel is of time code as heard on 3/4" Umatic tapes. (this is not our museum's transfer)

Here's Part 3 of a local music show, Made in Chicago, on WTTW Channel 11. This program (which was also simulcast on WBBM-FM 96.3) was a predecessor to Soundstage which was also produced by the station and aired nationally over PBS. The guests on this (re-run airing) edition were Aliotta-Haynes-Jeremiah (bassist Mitch Aliotta, guitarist Skip Haynes and pianist John Jeremiah) and Bill Quateman.

Note: As with other things we've found, this is actually quite ra...

Here is the last few minutes of an episode of Newstalk with Naurice Roberts.

This program came on at 6am before Comedy Classics at 6:30am. What a scary piece of music to start your morning with.

(The end voiceover by Ron Beattie also references a memorial mass for Dr. Martin Luther King - whose birthday is January 15th.)

This aired on local...

WSNS Channel 44 - Summit Series Game 8 (Technical Difficulties?, 1972)

Here's something strange - during the broadcast on WSNS TV-44 of Game 8 of the 1972 Summit Series, they kept changing back to a World Championship Hockey slide - is this Channel 44's way of trying to do an ID or was this a glitch?

This happens all throughout the game it seems, at varying times.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, September 28th 1972. (Game aired here from 9pm to Midnight)

WJZ Channel 13 - "We Love IDs Too!" (On-Screen ID, 1983)

Here's one more example not from Chicago TV but still interesting to show the differences in stations presentations' of The Day After (an ABC Theater telemovie about the effects of a full-scale nuclear attack on the United States).

WLS-TV did not have an on-screen station ID for the entirety of the movie. However, WJZ Channel 13 in Baltimore, Maryland did. I don't have the entire broadcast to see how many there were, but this is at least one example.

WFBN Channel 66 - The Avengers - "Technical Funk-Up" (1985)

Here's a technical difficulties moment from WFBN Channel 66 during a broadcast of The Avengers.

We see the abrupt end of a commercial offer for a Civil War Chess Set and then a TV-66 "Road sign" station ID. Something's not quite kosher though as the interruption continues and the operator decides to make the most of it by playing some funky music (an excerpt of the song "What Is Hip", by Tower of Power) before the program returns.
