WFLD Channel 32 - Chicago Black Hawks Vs. Boston Bruins (Excerpts, 1976)
Here are some selected excerpts of the Chicago Black Hawks / Boston Bruins game on WFLD Channel 32, played at Boston Garden in Boston, MA. This was from an original 2" Quad master tape, and though the "recorded date" says 3-31-76, this game was broadcast on 3-25-76. I think someone, perhaps Don Shannon (who directed this telecast) made this compilation of excerpts from the original tape(s) on the 31st (or perhaps it was done live? That wouldn't account for the 3-31-76 date though) In any ...

Here's a commercial for the Star Wars Patrol Dewback action figure by Kenner. Can be used with Storm Trooper action figure. Also seen are the R2-D2 and C-3PO action figures. Each sold separately.
This ad aired only a few months prior to the release of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back (reclassified as Episode 5 in the saga after the release of the "prequels"). It is also notable for an early appearance by a young Ricky Schroeder (in the yellow shirt) - a few ...
WTTW Channel 11 - Wild Chicago - "Stephen Colbert Cameo" (1990)

Here's a neat clip from an episode of Wild Chicago - one of their "Dumb Question" segments where they go somewhere and ask random people a question of questionable intelligence. This one took place in Lincoln Park near Diversey.
As I watched this episode and saw this segment I kept going back to this part - that guy in the sunglasses looks familiar...finally it hit me - it's Stephen Colbert!! (of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report fame) You can also see one o...
WPRO Channel 12 - 11th Hour News with Bob Wallace (1965)
Not from Chicago, but definitely Chicago related (as we'll get to in a moment) - here's a rarity, transferred directly from a 2" quad videotape, an edition of the 11th Hour News on WPRO Channel 12 in Providence, Rhode Island (which, since 1967, has been known as WPRI-TV; except for the period 1977-1995 when they were affiliated with ABC, the station has otherwise been, and is today, a CBS affiliate).
The anchor is someone you likely know well - Bob Wallace, years before ...
