By this time, the program that had evolved from the local AM Chicago was now nationally syndicated, for a run that would last over two decades. Here, Oprah previews stories of people who endured every hardship imaginable from being lost at sea to being left to die in a foreign country - and lived to tell their tales to her.

Check out the film hair that sticks around at the beginning of the movie. Reminds me of that one cartoon where the character plucks it off the screen during the middle of the action. :-)

Here is the opening for Super Cartoon Sunrise on WFLD Channel 32. This is from a later incarnation of the show, but features the same graphics and music. (Except the 32 WFLD logo which is different from the earlier version)

You know, it's funny but I never knew that WFLD showed the Jetsons. I could have sworn it was only on Channel 60/50. In any case, it must have only been on WFLD for a very short time.

Here's a commercial for National Clothing Fashions spotlighting the latest disco fashions, and accompanied by (what else?) disco music. (They seemed to have a thing for disco-themed outfits, given that they'd do another such ad the next year.) With an offer for a store credit card which one could get in 90 seconds. Stores at 26 West Randolph, 3138 North Randolph and 6348 South Halsted.

Here's the opening to a "Movie 11" presentation of Threads - a harrowing, deeply depressing look at the immediate and long-term effects of a full-scale nuclear war. This British film makes The Day After look like an episode of Gilligan's Island.

Just take your ol' Uncle Fuzz' advice - don't ever watch this movie - just don't. You'll feel better, trust me.
