Perkins' Fanta-Mals - Ralf - "Production Elements" (1974?)

Here's kind of a rare oddity - an animated production element for a "coloring book/cut-out paper dolls kit" type toy called Fanta-Mals (or Mini-Mals) by Perkins. This was found on an old 3/4" tape and dates to about 1974 or 1975.

Features the Fanta-Mals mascot - "Ralf", the green monster with the pink umbrella (or in this case, red umbrella)

Not sure how or if this was used in a commercial, since it doesn't show up in the other spots.

Here's some neat behind-the-scenes stuff - some working production elements for what appear to be commercial bumpers for the Six O'Clock Movie on WFLD Channel 32. You can see this is essentially the same graphics as the opening we saw recently for the Six O'Clock Movie.

First we hear some of the bumper music, "K-Jee" by MFSB again ("bumper beds", says the box). Next some color bars, and then it looks li...

WGN Channel 9 - Emergency Broadcast System - "This is NOT a Test" (1985)

Here's a pretty spooky clip - transferred from an RCA Quad cart (for playing on model TCR-100 cart machines) loaded with 2" videotape.

A Fuzzy Personal Note: "I grew up at the height of the 2nd great nuclear war scare period (the first being the Cuban Missile Crisis of course), having been chilled to the bone from seeing movies like “The Day After” in 1983 when I was nine years old. So this clip was very fascinating to me, and seems to be a glimpse at what we might ...

JFK's First Trip to Chicago - "Lost" 16mm Footage (1961)

Not really TV related, but it's pretty incredible - and historically significant - "lost" footage (not known to have been publicly seen until now) of President John F. Kennedy on a trip to Chicago, his first as President, on April 28th 1961.

After a few seconds of dirty leader, the film starts off with Air Force One arriving at the airport, followed by Kennedy and his contingent stepping off and him being greeted by a crowd. The President then shakes hands with various officia...
