Screen Gems - "The Scratchy 'S' From Hell" (1979)

Here's an example of the memorable mid-60s Screen Gems animated "S From Hell" logo. This particularly dirty-looking print came at the end of an episode of I Dream of Jeannie on good ol' WGN Channel 9.

For my money, still not as freaky as the Viacom " V of Doom".

Synthesized music riff by Eric Siday.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Wednesday, December ...

Not from Chicago, but still of interest - here's a station ID for KMIR Channels 6 and 36 in Palm Springs, California, affiliated then as now with NBC. (Channel 36 is the main channel, Channel 6 was its cable TV dial position; the '6' ID remained part of their logo up until the end of 2013.)

WLS Channel 7 - AM Chicago - "The Chambers Sisters" (Brief Excerpt, 1980?)

Here is a brief segment of AM Chicago which aired on WLS Channel 7 featuring twins Kathleen Chambers and Colleen Chambers.

Interviewer is Sandi Freeman. Kind of neat you can see the old AM Chicago set with the audience - you can also make out the stained glass logo in the background.

Also featuring Dottie and Ethel, and June and Jan Picaro (?).

Not sure when this aired, but I'm sure Frank could tell us the year - 1980?

WGN Channel 9 - "Happy Thanksgiving Day" (Partial Bumper, 1978)

Here's a quick flash of a partial Thanksgiving Day bumper on WGN Channel 9 that aired immediately following the ending credits of "The Flying Deuces" starring Laurel and Hardy. The logo shown would pinpoint the origin of this bumper to earlier in the decade.

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, November 23rd 1978 at 4:30pm.

Abel and Associates - "Demo Reel" (Part 2, 1978?)

Here's Part 2 (the final part) of a demo reel from Abel and Associates, a Hollywood-based production and graphics firm headed by Robert Abel.

This came from a 3/4" Umatic tape that was kept by Cathy Mustari, art director for WFLD Channel 32 from 1974 to the late '80's, from a time when the station was actively shopping for production houses to handle their graphics for opens/closes, bumpers, promos, etc.

This part includes:
