WFLD Channel 32 - The Koz Zone - "The Astro-Zombies" - "Beginnings..." (1989)
Here's the first few minutes of the very first Koz Zone episode (before it had a name even) - back when he was really playing up the idea of being a video pirater. The first movie he showed was "The Astro-Zombies" (which he also showed on Son of Svengoolie at one point).
It was an exciting time - waiting for this to come on. It had been years since I had seen Son of Svengoolie or any Rich Koz Komedy at that point, and it was starting to become a fuzzy childhood memory ...

Here is Part 2 of a funny holiday themed sketch from The Koz Zone - "It's a Wonderful Cliche". Features:
- Uncle Beelzebub presenting the rebus puzzle game "Win, Lose, or Drawl..." (with Jim Barton voiceover as one of the people guessing)
- Parody of a bad infomercial pitchman (The "Money-Makin' Seminar" guy...wish I could remember his name) (or maybe I don't)
This is from Episode 22, which featured the movie "The Champ".
This aire...
The Koz Zone - "Hey, is that Peg Bundy?"
Here is a clip from an episode of The Koz Zone, featuring a clip from an episode of Son of Svengoolie, which was a reworked clip from an episode of the original Svengoolie (played by Jerry G. Bishop) back in the early seventies.
Confused? Well, it also features Bette Midler and her Harlettes, one of which is definitely Melissa Manchester, and one which may or may not be Katey Sagal (TV's Peg Bundy).
Ehhh, I'll let Mr. Koz explain...

Here is a sketch from an episode of The Koz Zone - Uncle Beelzebub's Chicago Hell Club - which is a parody of sorts of Chicago Health Club.

"HELL-o, kids!"

Here's a great sketch from Episode 14 of The Koz Zone - "Uncle Beelzebub at The NBC Tower Party". Besides the comedy, features a lot of neat bits including:
An old bumper for "The Courtship of Eddie's Father" featuring an a cappella riff on the theme song by Harry Nilsson not usually heard.
A clip from an old WFLD Sales Promotional Film from 1970 showing what equipment they have at the sta...
Who's Askin'? - "Does A Straw Work In Outer Space?" (1990)

Here's one of the interstitials that WFLD Channel 32 used to run in the early nineties during commercial breaks featuring the talents of Rich Koz - Who's Askin'? In twenty years, these will probably be the Snipets of their time. :-)
Daniel Parker of Oak Park wanted to know if a straw works in outer space. Now he knows.
This aired on local Chicago TV in the Summer of 1990.
The Koz Zone - "Fuzzy's Letter" (1989)

Here's another one of Fuzzy's early brushes (more like a tickle) with fame - when Rich Koz read my letter on The Koz Zone! It included the mildly humorous limerick that I had written, Fred.
I had a pet weasel named Fred
who liked to ride on my sled
but then one day, a rock got in the way
and that was the end of Fred.
I was also proud of the fact that per my suggestion, Rich re-instituted the "Cards & Letters" theme at the end o...

WFLD Channel 32 - Chicago Stuff (Part 2, 1985)

Here's a lost Koz Klassic! - Chicago Stuff - was it a failed pilot? A consolation prize from Fox Television for cancelling Son of Svengoolie a month later? A half-remembered dream? It only aired once, at 10pm on a Sunday in December 1985 - so you couldn't be blamed for not knowing it existed. (I only heard rumors) In any case, it's a neat little package of Rich's schtick, so just think of it as an extremely early episode of The Koz Zone. :-)
