Here's something pretty cool - the ending of "Sing We Noel" followed by a Christmas Day Station Sign-off on WTTW Channel 11. Also includes:
PBS - Public Broadcasting Service animated logo
WTTW promo for New Year's at Pops (main voiceover by William Pierce) (secondary voiceover by Marty Robinson)

Here's Part 1 of "New Year's Eve: Chicago Style" - a special on WBBM Channel 2. Unfortunately, the recording starts during a commercial break and we miss the first 10 minutes or so of the broadcast - still, lots of local fun in this one. :-)
Gary Deeb (the Tribune's TV-radio critic at the time) wrote in his column for Monday, December 31st 1979 - "The Local Line: Speaking of New Year's Eve, if you want to laugh yourself into convulsions, tune to WBBM-Ch. 2 about 11:40pm fo...
WGN Channel 9 - WGN Presents - "Mutiny On The Bounty" (Ending & Break, 1977)

Here's something pretty rare - the ending of a WGN Presents airing of "Mutiny on the Bounty" from 1977! You'll notice the graphics used here are the scrolling movie marquee version which we also saw in this example from 1980. I thought they were using an earlier version of the opening in 1977. Actually, I have an example from 1979 that uses the older version's "spotlight" motif with movie stars faces inside them. I gu...

Here's the opening for what was supposed to be Mighty Mouse on WFLD Channel 32, but instead they played the opening video for Woody Woodpecker. The voiceover by Dr. Don is correct though. WTTW Channel 11 - "Profane Pledge" (1980)
Views: 3299 Here's the ending of The Great Radio Comedians (end credits cut off early) followed by a neat vintage pledge break on WTTW Channel 11. Features Michael Hirsh, who was also the producer of the highly-regarded documentary special "Making M*A*S*H". In between asking for donations, Mike shows some blooper outtakes from M*A*S*H, including a couple with a few bad words, which necessitates the standard disclaimer:
The screw-up likely occured because Mighty Mouse had replaced Woody Woodpecker in this timeslot about a month prior to this airing.
Notice, the font on the WFLD Woody Woodpecker logo is a bit different than the more rounded design
**Warning: May be slightly inappropriate for some environme...

Here's Part 1 of a fairly early episode of The Oprah Winfrey Show - back when they were still producing it in the WLS-TV studios, and when they were still using the old AM Chicago music as the theme. On this day they had a Christmas Talent Show featuring staff members from WLS Channel 7. This part includes:
WLS-TV anchorman Joel Daly shows off his yodeling ability (!) and then Kevin McGurk, WLS Account Executive in the Sales department does some impressions, singing and perfo...
