Here's Part 2 (the final part) of an edition of The Dorsey Connors Show on WNBQ Channel 5 (which, like most shows of this period, is only available via 16mm kinescope film). Ms. Connors, who died on September 5th 2007, was a fixture on Chicago radio and television in the early years of the latter medium, with a daytime program that was along the lines of shows such as that of Lee Phillip on WBBM Channel 2. But whereas Ms. Phillip continually remade herself (and in the process, remain...

CBS Network - The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show (Bumper #2, 1984)

Here's a return bumper for when the CBS Network aired The Bugs Bunny/Road Runner Show on Saturday mornings. These have a video arcade theme to them.

Also includes the opening card for one of the cartoons - with a little musical ditty that will stay stuck in my head forever. (they had slight variations of it however - this one wasn't my favorite - it's kind of truncated. I liked the full version)

Voiceover by Rick Dees.

Here's an installment from Kidding Around, a Saturday kids' show that ran from 1978 to 1985 on WMAQ Channel 5.

The main host was Steve Smith (not to be confused with the Canadian comedian of the same name who is best known as outdoorsman Red Green on a long-running TV series, The Red Green Show), and his co-hostess here is Shawn Gourdie (who, at the time, was 13 years old and a seventh-grader at Sudling Junior High in Palatine; a Chicago Tribune piece on the prog...

WSNS Channel 44 - White Sox Baseball - "Disco Demolition Promo & Harry Catches a Foul Ball" (1979)

Here's an incredible twofer - 1) A live voiceover promo given by Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall for the infamous Disco Demolition event that took place the following night. Little did they know what was about to occur. They talk about Lorelei and how for some reason WLUP's call letters don't make sense to them.

2) Amazingly, right after they are done talking about WLUP, Greg Pryor pops up a foul ball behind him and Harry goes after it with his trusty fishing net and catches ...

Here's a version of "The Choice Is Yours" jingle/slogan and animation as used by WKBD Channel 50 in Detroit, starting off with shots of a sculpture with the General Motors building at Renaissance Center in the background, a local pastry shop, and a young child walking a dog, before that stack turns around to show the Field-era '50' logo.

Animation was done using the analog Scanimate video process.

Here's a station ID for WFLD Channel 32 with "The Choice Is Yours" slogan/jingle, showing two different shots of the Chicago skyline at top and bottom and a young child with a Chicago Cubs hat shown at center (I wonder where the kid with the Cubs hat is today?), before the stack of images turns around to show the new Field-era '32' logo.

Lincoln Carpeting (Commercial #3, 1984)

To complete the trifecta, here is one more Lincoln Carpeting commercial, circa 1984. Not the full version of the jingle, but enough.

Off comes the tie, and out come the sales records. Uh-oh, he's going for the hard sell now. :-)
