Here's Part 2 of "New Year's Eve: Chicago Style" - a special on WBBM Channel 2. Unfortunately, the recording starts during a commercial break and we miss the first 10 minutes or so of the broadcast - still, lots of local fun in this one. :-) This part includes:

Mayor Jane Byrne and her husband Jay McMullen arrive at State & Randolph while John Coughlin narrates the "action". Longtime WGN TV and Radio veteran Roy Leonard can be seen as the MC of the event down on the stage.

Here's the good news - someone recorded The Ray Rayner Show at various times in the early seventies! Now the bad news - they only recorded the cartoons, and cut out nearly everything else. :-( I bring you the only snippets left - a few excerpts of the clock that they would show the time on, and in some cases, the chalkboard with the date, weather, and sports scores. Here's a rare segment from the morning show Kennedy and Company on WLS Channel 7, hosted by the late Bob Kennedy. This was the predecessor to AM Chicago (which was begun after Kennedy's death in 1974), and is considered in some corners to be an ancestor to the recently-ended The Oprah Winfrey Show.
