(Note: The black box was for showing the clock displaying the current time in the morning. It is not included in these clips because they were not recorded off-air, but from studio master tapes)

Featured cartoon series shown in this "Coming This Fall" promo are Woody Woodpecker, Tom & Jerry, Popeye (the 1933-57 theatrical cartoons), and Fred Flintstone & Friends (a syndicated package of 1970s episodes, not to be confused with the original Flintstones series which was still being run by WGN Channel 9 at this point).

We see, from a brief shot at the star...

Here is the opening for Super Cartoon Sunrise on WFLD Channel 32. This is from a later incarnation of the show, but features the same graphics and music. (Except the 32 WFLD logo which is different from the earlier version)

You know, it's funny but I never knew that WFLD showed the Jetsons. I could have sworn it was only on Channel 60/50. In any case, it must have only been on WFLD for a very short time.

Lineup included:

The Great Space Coaste...

WFLD Channel 32 - Super Cartoon Sunrise - Popeye Hour (Jingle Bumper, 1979?)

Here is a WFLD Channel 32 kids' choice "jingle bumper" for Popeye Hour on Super Cartoon Sunrise.

I wonder who those kids' voices are that did the singing. Wouldn't it be cool to find out who they were?

"In Chicago the kids' choice is...Channel 32!"

Not sure when this aired exactly, but based on evidence in the recording, 1979 seems like a good bet, although technically it could have been early 1980 too.

WFLD Channel 32 - Super Cartoon Sunrise - "Popeye" (Bumper, 1984)

Here is a bumper for Popeye on Super Cartoon Sunrise on WFLD Channel 32.

Voiceover by Jeff Lupetin - "Now back to Popeye..."

Couple interesting things about this bumper - First of all, for some reason they use the old style WFLD 32 logo from the Field days. This is different from the other ones. Secondly, the animation is more pronounced in this version - look at the "sparkle" effects on the 32 logo and around the clock box. This wasn't seen in the other bump...
