Here's a promo demo reel for Panos Productions, a local Chicago video production house that produced some local TV commercials and at least one program. (Outdoor Sportsman on WCIU Channel 26)
The fonts seen here are from a very primitive CG system, along the lines of 3M Datavision (but different from what was used by WSNS Channel 44).
Includes:
Roughly two seconds of EIA RS-18...

Moore Animation - "Demo Reel" (1979?)
Here's a demo reel for Moore Animation, which specialized in live action, animation and production.
This came from a 3/4" Umatic tape that was kept by Cathy Mustari, art director for WFLD Channel 32 from 1974 to the late '80's, from a time when the station was actively shopping for production houses to handle their graphics for opens/closes, bumpers, promos, etc.
This reel begins with the company logo and a voiceover (by Paul Frees), and includes the following:
WCAE Channel 50 - 3-2-1 Contact (Technical Difficulties Moment, 1980)
Here's a strange technical difficulties moment from an airing of the series 3-2-1 Contact on the PBS station WCAE Channel 50 (St. John, Indiana) - which later became WYIN Channel 56. (giving up the Channel 50 frequency which would then be taken over by WPWR-TV)
We start, innocently enough, with the animated CTW (Children's Television Workshop) logo opening, already in progress, followed by the opening titles sped way-up. Now wait - you might assume that this is the tec...

WMAQ Channel 5 - Weekend (Opening, 1979)
Here's the opening moments for an edition of one of the 100 or so newsmagazines NBC attempted until finally hitting it in the 1990's with Dateline NBC. This is of Weekend, which had aired every so often since the mid-1970's (in the first year or so of NBC's Saturday Night Live, Weekend aired once a month in that same time slot). The hosts at this juncture were Linda Ellerbee and Lloyd Dobyns, who would later co-anchor the short-lived NBC News Overnight tog...
WLS Channel 7 - Ending of Saturday Night Movie, Reflections and Station Sign-Off (1977)
Here's (as far as I'm aware) the earliest known (to date) sign-off sequence, from any channel, to turn up here. This one is from WLS Channel 7, found at the end of a Umatic videotape that was mostly recorded over with high school girls' gymnastics home movies from 1977 (boooooo!) and includes:
The ending moments of the Saturday Night Movie presentation (in glorious "pan-and-scan" and quite terrible color - it's not the recording - compare to how the commercials look!) o...
