Lerner was the station's first sportscaster, and would go on to a long career with such stations as WLS Channel 7, WMAQ Channel 5, WGN Radio 720 and WSCR-AM, as well as being a wrestling announcer. Here's another commercial for 1st Metropolitan Builders featuring...uh..the "1st Metropolitan Builders" Guy. Here he shows you how to turn mysterious, foggy inner space into a new rec room, electronic playground or fondue-eating area.

Noteworthy because this commercial features their attempt at using animated characters, which seemed to be quickly retired.

Here's an incredible twofer - 1) A live voiceover promo given by Harry Caray and Jimmy Piersall for the infamous Disco Demolition event that took place the following night. Little did they know what was about to occur. They talk about Lorelei and how for some reason WLUP's call letters don't make sense to them.

2) Amazingly, right after they are done talking about WLUP, Greg Pryor pops up a foul ball behind him and Harry goes after it with his trusty fishing net and catches ...

Son Of Svengoolie - "Star Trek" (1979)

Here's an early segment from Son of Sven - "Star Trek". I don't understand what happened at the end - it's like it got cut off. Was there supposed to be some other joke or a "To Be Continued..." sign? I wonder if this is an unfinished take of the sketch.

Not sure what episode this was from but based on the fact that Star Trek: The Motion Picture came out in 1979, I figure it's an early one.

This aired on local Chicago TV on a Saturday in the latter half of 1979.
