WGN Channel 9 - Garfield Goose and Friends - "Clutch Cargo" (1971?)
Here's an interesting discovery! A 16mm film, found by Mr. Chance Mitchell on Ebay and graciously donated to us - it starts out with a vintage WGN Color Station ID (the same one we saw at the beginning of the Bozo's Circus: The Lost Tape special (albeit with different music), which is why I date this, for lack of a better guess, as from 1971)
Then follows the most complete, and richest-color-looking opening for Garfield Goose and Friends that I have ever seen bef...
WSNS Channel 44 - The Dating Game - "Joey D'Auria" (Part 1, 1980)
What are the odds? Recorded at random and saved without meaning to, here is an episode of The Dating Game on WSNS Channel 44. Cool enough because it has the original commercial breaks intact - however as I was scanning through it I slowly recognized the face - Chicago's Bozo the Clown the Second, Mr. Joey D'Auria was one of the bachelors!
In Part 1, we hear the intro to the show given by host Jim Lange - it's cut off slightly, however from what he says later in the sho...

Here's another commercial break from an edition of Bozo's Circus on WGN Channel 9. Includes:
"We Will Return..." bumper slide (with "Everything's Coming Up Roses" from the musical Gypsy playing in the background) (voiceover by Frazier Thomas)
Commercial: The Straw Mill Factory from Centsible (sp?) - Can make anything from houses to bridges to airplanes - Comes with idea book and 200 plastic straws
Commercial: Cap'n Crunch cereal - ...

Here's a commercial for Playball - a sponge rubber ball on an elastic band that clips to your baseball glove and which will come back to you after you throw it. Makes dads obsolete. ;-)
A "Play-By-Yourself Toy" - product of Playball, Inc - a Pixonic Company [sic?]
Is it just me or does this ad look like it was locally produced?
"If your Dad is tired or your friends are all away..."
This aired on local Chicago TV on Friday, J...
Listermint With Julia Duffy (Commercial, 1977)
Here's a commercial for Listermint mouthwash featuring actress Julia Duffy of Newhart fame.
"Get together with something better"
This aired on local Detroit TV on Saturday, February 26th 1977 at 5pm. (not Chicago TV, but still cool)
Your Local Zoo or Aquarium - "It's Wild" (1984?)
Here's a couple spots that one of our contributors, Matthew Graczyk found on Quad 2" videotape for "Your local Zoo or Aquarium". He believes these were used for the local Peoria area, although they do not specify and are generic enough to be used all over.
There's a 10 second spot followed by a longer 30 second spot.
"Uncouth."
Not sure when these would have aired but I'm going to guess 1984.

Here's something pretty rare - some footage from WFLD Channel 32's Movie for a Saturday Afternoon featuring the Kaiser-era 32 logo, so this must have dated to at least early 1977 (previous to this we only had a tiny excerpt of this bumper). Most of it was taped over unfortunately, but this is what remains. This first segment, a partial commercial break includes:
Partial Commercial: Life cereal - "...
WOR Channel 9 - News 9 - "Tom Dunn, Kid Reporter" Promo & 9 All Night Bumper (1984)
Here's a promo for News 9 on WOR Channel 9 in New York City, spotlighting anchor Tom Dunn's interest in news dating from his childhood (with a younger actor playing the younger Dunn). The real-life Tom Dunn (who died in 2006) is shown towards the end, both solo and flanked by (clockwise from lower left) co-anchor Sara Lee Kessler (last heard from on FM News 101.9 in New York, a sister station to our very own local former FM News 101.1), weatherman Lloyd Lindsay Young (last heard from ...
WBBM Channel 2 - The 20th Annual Chicago Emmy Awards (Part 1, 1978)
The transfer of this video clip made possible by your generous donations!
This is a tremendous find - not only do we have another (mostly) complete Chicago Emmy Awards telecast - this one from the 70s - as part of the 20th Anniversary they decided to have a retrospective of the local TV stations! So we get to see some footage, slides and pictures, which apparently at this point in 1978 were not yet thrown out or forgotten by the TV stations. (Some of the clips or bu...
