(The "GE" part of the station's calls was for its then-owner, General Electric; prior to 1973 it had been on Channel 8 under the call letters WSIX, until it swapped frequencies with PBS affiliate WDCN [now WNPT]; since 1983 Channel 2 has been known as WKRN.)
