Field Communications - "Old Style Chicago" - A FuzzyMemories Re-Creation (Station ID, 1978)

Here is a (slight) re-creation of the vintage Chicago Field Communications ID (pre-1979) from before they came out with their animated one. I believe this was the original Field ID style. Note the weird electronic music.

I used the original video of the ID from the San Francisco version, which was recorded in 1978, along with the audio from

Way to Go! Special (Part 1, 1980)

Here is Part 1 of the Field Communications produced Way to Go! Special - an hour long (compilation?) showcase of some special kids and what they do. Has a lot of nice little slices of late seventies life as a kid. :-) The tape was dated May of 1980. My contact says that only a few of these "Specials" were made. Like I said, I'm not sure if these were compilations of segments shown on the regular Way to Go program, or if they were specifically produced for these specials. I am pretty sur...

Here is the opening segment and first commercial break to "The Magic of David Copperfield" (his first CBS special). Includes a CBS Wonder Woman pre-emption graphic (recording missed the voiceover though) as well as the famous CBS Special animation with Hawaii Five-O's Call To Danger Music cue, and an introduction by the great Orson Welles. Also features Valerie Bertinelli as one of his guests. During the card trick number, an instrumental version of the O'Jay's "Love Train" is played.

WCIU Channel 26 - Outdoor Sportsman (Ending, 1979)

Here's the ending of the Outdoor Sportsman program on WCIU Channel 26. Features Joe Wyer trying to give some info about a contest of some sort (fishing contest?) on April 29th but runs out of time before the credits. Anyone know what the ending music is?

Outdoor Sportsman was on Saturdays at 5:30pm, right before Eddie Korosa's Polka Party. (in the early-to-mid 70's Outdoor Sportsman aired on WSNS Channel 44)

Also features a WCIU-TV Channel 26 Station ID slide ...

This opening features scenes from classic movies (in order): The Blue Angel, Metropolis, The Rocking Horse Winner, Alexander Nevsky, Ugetsu, The Red Shoes, Metropolis, La Strada, [?], Metropolis, Jules et Jim, Beauty and the Beast, Caesar and Cleopatra, and Black Orpheus.

Music used is a classical piece by Wendy Carlos - I think it's the same theme that the Frugal Gourmet used. ...

Way to Go (Part 2b, 1980)

Here is Part 2b of a long-forgotten Field Communications produced program for kids called Way to Go. This episode (which may infact be the first one) is from 1980. Peter Kastner is the host.

I am pretty sure this was produced at the Field station KBHK-TV Channel 44 in San Francisco.

This program aired on WFLD Channel 32 in Chicago on Sunday mornings at 9:30am in July of 1981 (Thanks, smctopia!) and may have aired at other times too.

Not sure if th...

Here's a commercial for Maximum Strength Tylenol Sinus Medication. This ad spotlights "Sinus Headache Case History #7," Charlene Paoli of Chicago, who had sinus headaches (sinusitis) since her early teens. (This airing also fell one year prior to the infamous tampering incident that led to a lasting change in the packaging of Tylenol products.)

Voiceover by Phil Tonken (longtime staff announcer for WOR Channel 9 in New York City, for those in the Chicago area who were getting...
