WXRT 93 FM - "Chicago's Fine Rock Station" (Commercial, 1980)

Here's the earliest WXRT commercial I've yet found - it features "Monty Python"-style animations of the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Muddy Waters, Bruce Springsteen, and Blondie, and others. The opening drum beat is from the Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's reprise.

WVON 1390 AM - "We Are Family" (Commercial, 1980)

This station has a bit of a confusing history, but it now occupies the frequency 1690 AM.

WVON was a "heritage" station to Chicago's black community featuring great Black air personalities like Lucky Cordell, Bruce Brown, Herb Kent "the cool gent", Yvonne Daniels and many others. WVON became well-known outside the Chicago area as well. Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records, sent every song he produced immediately to WVON before any other station. WBMX "Progressive" FM 103 (Commercial, 1980)

Here's a saucy commercial for WBMX - "Progressive" FM 103.

The call letters WBMX (standing for Black Music EXperience), were originally assigned to 102.7 on the FM dial in Oak Park/Chicago Illinois from 1973 to 1988. (That station frequency is now home to R&B station WVAZ - better known as V-103). In 1991, the call letters WBMX were assigned to 98.5 on the FM dial in the Boston area.

Contains some quick clips of the Chicago White Sox.

Here's the sketch "Sell-Out Radio Network" from Son of Sven episode number 188 where he was showing the film "Black Friday".

This was Break 5, Segment 5.

Those aren't 8 tracks, those are cart tapes spinning on Son of Svengoolie's platter. WHAT is actually AM 1340 in Philadelphia. KWIT is actually FM 90.3 in Sioux City. WAXX is 104.5 FM in Eau Claire. KUDD is 107.9 FM in Roy, Utah. Surprisingly, there is no radio station with the call letters KOLD but they are C...

Eddie Schwartz Interviews Jerry G. Bishop & Rich Koz (Part 4, 1982)

Here's something pretty rare - you get your Jerry G. and Koz fix all in one. (Not to mention a tribute to recently passed "Chicago Ed" Eddie Schwartz). This is Part 4 (the last part) of a radio interview Eddie did with Jerry G. Bishop (in studio) where they call up Rich Koz at home.

This part also features veteran WGN-TV newsman, Jack Taylor.

Sorry for the variable and at times muffled audio quality - I did not mix this or attempt to fix it up much. If any aud...

Not sure when this aired exactly yet, but I believe it's from 1982.

WLS Channel 7 - AM Chicago - "Dick & Doug" (Part 1, 1976)

Here's Part 1 of an interview segment from AM Chicago on WLS Channel 7, in which host Steve Edwards interviews the legendary morning drive team of Dick (Sainte) and Doug (Dahlgren) - "Dick and Doug", who were fired from WCFL AM 1000 on March 12th 1976 midway through their air shift, after talking too much about that station's change in format from Top 40 to beautiful music (they had been explicitly forbidden to do so by WCFL's general manager, Lew Witz). In this part, they speak of th...
