Here's a commercial for Aldi Discount Foods (A.K.A. Aldi's or Aldi Foods) featuring some testimonials from shoppers, as interviewed by none other than veteran voiceover announcer Al Parker. You also get to see some vintage shots of the outside and inside of the store, as well as the old logo sign.

They must have changed their name from Aldi Discount Foods to just Aldi Foods sometime within the next year.

WJYS Channel 62 - Home Shopping Club (1993)

Here's some footage from WJYS Channel 62 and their Home Shopping Club. Would this also be considered a sign-on? Their doesn't seem to be any edits in the video but that's how it looks - with static, and then that Video Magic credit before it smoothly transitions into a promo. Any idea?

If anyone is clamoring for more of this footage I could post a few more parts.

Based on what the lady says in the promo near the beginning, this likely aired on local Chicago TV...

Here's the ending moments of the Panorama - News at Noon on WTTG Channel 5 in Washington, DC. The main anchor was Pat Mitchell (now the president and CEO of the Paley Center for Media), and the "Total Communication News" (for the deaf or hard of hearing) was delivered in a combination of speaking and sign language by Jim (?)

No shouting a la Garrett Morris on the early "Weekend Update" segments of Saturday Night Live, alas. It is a nice companion to

Son Of Svengoolie - "Star Trek" (1979)

Here's an early segment from Son of Sven - "Star Trek". I don't understand what happened at the end - it's like it got cut off. Was there supposed to be some other joke or a "To Be Continued..." sign? I wonder if this is an unfinished take of the sketch.

Not sure what episode this was from but based on the fact that Star Trek: The Motion Picture came out in 1979, I figure it's an early one.

This aired on local Chicago TV on a Saturday in the latter half of 1979.

The Don Ferris "Sampler" (1977-1991)

Here's a compilation I created of some of the fine work of Don Ferris, announcer emeritus for WSNS TV-44 and WTTW Channel 11. I am going to present this to him today when we meet for the first time! (more on that later) Includes:

Here's an on-screen station ID for WSNS Channel 44 during a broadcast of Futbol (Soccer - not sure what match it is - World Cup?). I thought it was interesting that they're using the same station ID as long before the Spanish transition.
