Here's Part 2 of an interesting piece of history - The beginning of the Lead-Off Man show on WGN Channel 9 on Opening Day 1961, White Sox At Washington, featuring an interview with the president.

Vince Lloyd interviews both John F. Kennedy and LBJ from the President's box. Hubert Humphrey and Everett Dirksen are right behind JFK. Panoramic shots of the old (and now long gone) Griffith Stadium, with the National Anthem. JFK throws out the first ball, caught by Jungle Jim Rive...

WFLD Channel 32 - Movie For A Saturday Afternoon - "The Kettles On Old McDonald's Farm" (Break #2, 1980)

Here's something pretty rare - some footage from WFLD Channel 32's Movie for a Saturday Afternoon featuring the Kaiser-era 32 logo, so this must have dated to at least early 1977 (previous to this we only had a tiny excerpt of this bumper). Most of it was taped over unfortunately, but this is what remains. This second segment, with ID and complete commercial break, includes:

WFLD on-screen Station...

Here's a CBS Newsbreak with Marlene Sanders as aired on WBBM Channel 2. The headlines are, as follows:

- Consumer prices rose 1 percent in September and inflation rose to a rate of over 12 percent (with food prices the main culprit, and housing second), in the last report issued prior to the upcoming election

The theme music for this filmed bumper was "Race With The Devil" by Chris Gunning, from th...

WREX Channel 13 - "The Circus" (Take 2, 1969)

Here's another take of an (evidently lipsynced) performance from a band called "The Circus" - recorded at WREX Channel 13 in Rockford, IL. (Not sure if this ever ran on or was intended to run on WCIU Channel 26 or not.)

This came from the other Quad tape that I found in Jack Mulqueen's basement recently. (Recorded in low band, according to the slate at the opening of this clip - as accompanied by an 800 Hz tone).

I was hoping this tape might have contained an...

Snipets - "Body Pride" (1976?)

HERE'S ANOTHER LONG LOST SNIPETS SEGMENT! Features a young Black/Asian (?) lad, contemplating his physical features, while we hear his internal monologue.

This one actually came from 16mm film and interestingly, includes the opening and closing Snipets bumpers - the Kaiser Broadcasting variation no less.

This is one of the "Pride Has Many Faces" series of Snipets of which t...

WFLD Channel 32 - "Festival Of Television" (Promo, 1978)

Here's a promo for the "Festival of Television" and their first night of special programming on WFLD Channel 32. Here are Chris Tuft's recollections:

Tuesday was "Topper" and "The Gale Storm Show", Wednesday was "Love That Bob" and "How to Marry a Millionaire". Thursday was "Bachelor Father" and "People's Choice." Fr...

WIIC Channel 11 - 6:30 News Roundup With Len Johnson (1962)

Exactly 56 years ago today (at 6:30 PM)!

Here's an incredible find - usually anything this old, if I am lucky to find it, is on a 16mm kinescope (remember, in 1962 Quad tape itself was only 6 years old). And even though it's from a Pittsburgh station, it has a very strong Chicago connection, as it is anchored by Len Johnson, whose voice (if not face) will no doubt be very recognizable to people who watched WGN in the 60s, 70s, and very early 80s. He was one of the ub...
