(reposted separately to make it easier to find)
Here's another classic commercial for Bert Weinman Ford with Linn Burton.
Bert Weinman - Your TV Ford Man - at 3535 N. Ashland Avenue. (Although if Bert Weinman is supposedly my *TV* Ford Man, how come we never see any commercials with him in them? We always see Linn Burton. Was Linn Burton a salesman that worked at Bert Weinman's? I wonder how many people mistook Linn Burton for Bert Weinman?)

Here's a "research reel" from Midocean Motion Pictures, a production and graphics house that handled commercials.

Rest In Peace, Jim "Moose" Murphy - The Picnic Permit King (1949-2009)

We now pay our respects to a man who was very comforting to us in his regularity. When you saw a report like this you knew another year had passed.
Here is a news segment detailing the first time Jim "Moose" Murphy waited in line for his Cook County Forest Preserve picnic permit. Interesting to watch because it also notes that in 1983 Moose beat out another long-time holder of the "first in line" crown - a man named Elmer Tucker, who had been first for 10 years in a row from ...
