A&P Food Stores - "A Butcher Shop with Supermarket Prices" (Commercial, 1979)

Here's a commercial for A&P Food Stores, with a butcher on duty pointing to the right kind of London broil for two women to buy (one with a pretty obvious voice overdub) while on their shopping trip. This scenario was cited as "another reason why you'll do better at A&P."

Ending voiceover by ??, with sale on center cut Chuck Roast (wasn't he a former anchorman here in Chicago?) for 98 cents a pound, available at all Indianapolis area A&P stores through Saturday, August 4th.

Mr. Steak (Commercial #2, 1975)

Here's another, shorter commercial for a long-gone restaurant that had locations in the Chicagoland area - Mister Steak. (no, not Mr. Beef!)

The production slate at the beginning shows that this was produced at WFLD Channel 32, and we see the Kaiser Broadcasting Company logo as well. This was number 7573 (I wonder what the significance of these numbers were exactly?) and was directed by Don Shannon. Record date was 6-27-75.

Ad Council - Keep America Beautiful - "Crying Indian Redux" (PSA, 1978)

Here's a later sequel to the famous "Keep America Beautiful" PSA with Iron Eyes Cody as the "Crying Indian" (derived from his reaction to the despoiling of the land around him from litter left on the ground and traffic passing by on a nearby road). This campaign (including a longer version seen elsewhere over the web) was first shown in 1971 and ran for many years afterward.
