As described by Wikipedia, TV DX is a term referring to the active search for distant television stations received during unusual atmospheric conditions. The term DX is an old telegraphic term meaning "long distance." TV DX aficionados would at...

Here's Part 1 of a blooper reel from WBBM Channel 2, of outtakes of taped material that never made it to broadcast and a few live moments where anything could and did happen.
This part starts with a still of a live report with the socket of the CBS eye in the superimposed graphic escaping and falling to the bottom, accompanied by various sounds of breaking glass.
Next is a still taken in the WBBM control room, with titles:
Living History - Volume 1...
WMAQ Channel 5 - WMAQ-TV Editorial - "Beef About It" (1973)

Here's an editorial by Dillon Smith, from early in his run as Editorial Director of WMAQ Channel 5 regarding the curious Chicago practice of not selling fresh meat after 6pm, nor selling any on Sundays.
From time to time, Mr. Smith would deliver his editorials in locations pertinent to its content and focus - even at this early date, from a local supermarket after 6pm when fresh meat was made empty at store shelves, due to a contract between the supermarkets and the butchers' u...

WGN Channel 9 - Ray Rayner and His Friends - "Crosstown Traffic" (Excerpt & Partial Break, 1979)
Here's another "Rare Rayner" clip. ;-) A surviving excerpt from an episode of the Ray Rayner show on WGN Channel 9.
In yet another example of synchronicity, this clip just happens to be from the same exact date (just earlier in the day) as a previous clip we found that came from a completely different source. Remarkable in itself since 1979 material can be hard to find - period, much less from the same...

Mr. Dahl, Mr. Meier (whose first name was misspelled "Gary" on the lower-third) and Mr. Roach won in the category of "Outstanding...

WGN Channel 9 - The Morning Movie - "Sorry, Wrong Number" (Opening, 1975)

Here's some really rare footage - from exactly 35 years old today - the opening to The Morning Movie presentation of "Sorry, Wrong Number" on WGN Channel 9.
This was recorded at Ridgewood High School in Norridge (by whom, has been lost to time) on 3/4" U-matic videotape using the 'ol rabbit ears, and thus unfortunately there is a bit of fuzz at times and the color goes out periodically. Also, due to the age of the tape, portions of the breaks have degraded in quality ...
