Here is Part 1 from another all but forgotten Field Communications special production - The Reluctant Robot. It was produced to get kids interested in Astronomical Science; pulsars, planets, space travel, etc. You can definitely see the influence from Star Wars a couple years earlier. The budget must not have been too great because the whole thing comes off as feeling like an episode of Dr. Who. (not that there's anything *wrong* with that) ;-)

Once again, I am pretty sure this was produced at the Field station KBHK-TV Channel 44 in San Francisco. (Were any Field programs or specials made anywhere else? I wonder...)

    Opening Credits:

    Produced by William Free

    Senior Producer: Mark Krigbaum

    Directed by Roy Anthony Cox

Sniffer, ICU2, The Professor, and Norman the Reluctant Robot will be back for Part 2...

This aired on local Chicago TV on Thursday, November 27th 1980 from 9am-10:30am! (Produced in 1979)
