Star Wars Droid Factory by Kenner (Commercial, 1979)

Here's a commercial for the Star Wars Droid Factory by Kenner. A "non-canon" toy that was a bit of a rare oddity back then since there was no "droid factory" in the original movie. Notable for allowing you to make an R2-D2 that actually looks like R2 (more so than the actual action figure) since it includes Artoo's middle extendable leg.

Voiceover by Norman Rose.

This aired on local Kansas City TV on Saturday, December 29th 1979. (1977 Copyright, Twentieth Century Fox Film Corp.)

A few years ago I bought a DVD of all the Kenner Star Wars commercials. One thing that really jumps out as you watch all of them back to back is the music that plays in the background. They tried to make it sound like Star Wars music but apparently didn't want to pay the rights. The music in the Creature Cantina ad is the best for shear cheesiness.

I got this for either my birthday or Christmas one year.
